It’s not too often that one gets the chance to do a hockey themed family photography shoot in an actual ice rink, so when Scott and Cheryl approached me with the idea to shoot their family photos at the local arena; I absolutely jumped at the chance. Dragging my favourite creative partner in crime, Paul of PMD Photography, and a whole lot of studio lighting with me; we hit the ice for what definitely had to be one of our most entertaining shoots yet. Both Scott and Cheryl are absolutely fantastic hockey players and skaters and it was so much fun to capture them doing what they truly love.
Henry Ward Beecher once said, “Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven”. And sweet little S certainly is heavenly. Check out this darling little angel that I was so fortunate to photograph recently. It doesn’t get any sweeter than this wee girl.
Wow, it’s been a ridiculously, ridiculously long time since I’ve blogged. I’ve still been shooting but trying to make a point of not getting bogged down (or blogged down as the case may be) with all the little details and taking more time to focus on having fun with my little girl. She is growing up way too fast! I know I should promote my work and my business more but ultimately for me I have two priorities in life that will always be first and foremost: 1) My family and my daughter and 2) Giving my clients a photographic memory that will last a lifetime.
But, alas, blogging and maintaining an online portfolio is a huge part of having a photography business so let’s take a little peek at what I’ve been up to lately. Hmm, where do we begin?!
Back in December, I was so blessed to have an absolutely spectacular family/maternity session with an incredibly loving and fun family. I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this session and how wonderfully fantastic this family is. Check out S, a true Titian beauty with her perfect little baby bump (unbelievably there were TWO babies in there!!), her handsome, charming and devoted hubby, P and their precious, sweet and lovely wee girl, M! I really cannot imagine a more perfect or beautiful family! Thank you so much, guys for allowing me to spend the day with you and to allow me to capture these precious moments in your life. I feel truly blessed.
Meet Kesler! We’ve been waiting for this little guy to make his debut and he certainly did it in the most patriotic style, arriving on Canada Day! I have to say, he is one of the most perfect newborns I have ever seen and definitely one of the most alert. We tried in vain to get some sweet, sleepy shots of Kesler but he was having absolutely nothing to do with our plan. He’s far too inquisitive and curious and he certainly wasn’t going to take a chance on missing out on any of the action. Check out this wise, sweet, little face. Something tells me there’s a very old soul tucked away in that perfect little newborn body. Thanks so much, guys for bringing your precious little man to see me and on Daddy’s birthday, no less. I am so excited for you both. Kesler is a lucky little boy to have such loving and devoted parents to guide him. Something tells me, he’ll be lacing up his skates and hitting the ice in no time.
I always swore I would never shoot anything wedding as a photographer and I’ll never forget the day that Cheryl asked me to shoot her wedding. I panicked, gave her the names of some amazing wedding photographers but in the end I agreed to shoot her and the girls getting ready. She was an absolutely breathtaking bride and I had such a great time capturing her and her gorgeous bridesmaids getting ready. Afterwards, I was completely hooked on wedding photography and I soon started work as a second shooter for Butter Media. Gina and Chris of Butter Media are amazingly talented and absolutely fantastic people and I have grown so much as a photographer since I started working with them.
I was so excited when Cheryl told me she was pregnant. From the moment I sent her sneak peek photos from her wedding day, she had insisted that she wanted me to do her maternity photos when the time came. Have I mentioned, I love baby bumps?!
Cheryl and Shaker really wanted to do an outdoor shoot so despite the crazy, unseasonable weather we’ve been having, we headed out to the Dykes of Maple Ridge to make some memories. They even brought their adorable dogs along!
Thanks so much, guys, for letting us capture this amazing time in your lives. Can’t wait to meet the little man! Something tells me, he better be a hockey fan
Today was a first for me and for little T! We had our very first cake smash together and it was SOOOOO much fun… AND SOOOOO MESSY! There was chocolate icing from one end of the studio to the next. But so worth it! Thank goodness for hardwood floors and porcelain tiles for easy clean up! This little guy has a smile that would melt the iciest of hearts and the deepest brown eyes that you could just get lost in. I am so glad we got to do our very first cake smash together. I can’t imagine it being any better. Check out these images! I still can’t stop giggling every time I look at them.
If you follow my blog you know one of my very, very favorite types of shoots is maternity photography. There’s just something so magical about baby bumps and the hopes and dreams of expectant parents. I’ve been looking forward to yesterday’s shoot for awhile now and I was certainly not disappointed. I had such a fantastic time shooting Amy and her gorgeous baby bump and I truly can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. Not only does she make pregnancy look fashionable (and did I mention, there are TWO babies in there?!) but she has an incredibly quick wit and a great sense of humour. These lucky little twin babies are going to have so much fun with her as their Mommy! Thanks again, Amy, for allowing me to help capture this precious time in your life! You and Mark are going to be amazing parents and I am so excited for you and the amazing adventure that is just beginning to unfold for you all. Here are just a few of my favorites from our session….
Everyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot in my heart for wee ones. What could be better than the opportunity to photograph one cute, perfect, sweet, angelic baby? Well two, of course, and their sweet, adorable big brother to boot. I had such a fantastic time photographing these beautiful children and I can’t even begin to tell you how impressed I was by big brother D. He loves his little baby siblings SOOO much and he was so incredibly patient and well behaved while we did their shoot. He has the most incredible eyes that you can get absolutely lost in and a smile that would launch a thousand ships. This family is definitely going to have a trio of heartbreakers on their hands! Thank you so much, guys for sharing your perfect family with me and for all the wonderful snuggles with the twins. I can’t remember a time when I’ve enjoyed myself so much or when I’ve met a nicer, more complete family! You are truly blessed!
I think one of my biggest regrets in life is that I never had professional photos taken when I was pregnant with my baby girl so I’m always SO excited when I am blessed with the opportunity to help a couple capture those last few precious moments before they grow from a twosome into a family.
I have been itching to get out of the studio and do an outdoor maternity shoot and I was so thrilled that Heather and Andrew, bless their spirit, were up for the adventure.
Heather has to be one of the yummiest Mommies I have ever seen and it’s hard to believe that their little bun will be fully baked in just 25 short days.
Thanks for letting me share in the magic of your relationship, guys. I’m so thrilled to have been able to spend this time with you and to have had the honour and privilege of photographing your beautiful baby bump. I can’t wait to meet your little bean.
Without further adieu, here are some of my favorite images from their shoot. Enjoy!
